I’ve received your magazine from the beginning. Your travel articles are excellent where your road tests could use a little work such as standardizing on the technical aspects. One article praised the price, but prices haven’t been given?

I take exception to the Caledon article on loud pipes. Motorcycles should have a good sound, but loud is not necessary and is not a safety aspect as most of the sound is heard from where you’ve been, not where you’re going. The worst offenders are Harleys with straight pipes, and there are a lot of them, followed by sport bikes with aftermarket mufflers. Motorcyclists have always been a target in North America and therefore we should do our best to fly below the radar. As a magazine, you should be setting a good example.

Obviously you haven’t been cut off, run out of your lane or otherwise a victim of a motorist who was not aware of the vehicles around them. Who cares WHERE the sound is coming from!!!! As long as the sound of the pipes wakes them up or alerts them to a motorcycle in their vicinity. Yes, motorcycles and their riders are targets, but not in the way your short-sighted and un-informed comments suggest.
